Teaching English to Buddhist Monks
Overview of the Project : Nepal is the country where the apostle of peace Lord Buddha was born. Buddha spread the message of Buddhism all across the world. Tibet is also a Buddhist country and there are more than 130,000 Tibetans who live in exile and out of that over 20% of them are living in Nepal . Despite of all difficulties, these exiled Buddhists are practicing their religion and rebuilding their cultural heritage in their own little ways. In this mission of the Tibetans in Nepal, education of the children is the top most priority and command of English is very important.
The Tibetan children are very keen to learn and improve their conversational English to brighten their future and also to be able to translate and preserve the holy Buddhist scriptures. Primary education schools, in the Tibetan Children's Village were established by the Tibetan community in Nepal. These schools support religious practices in their studies and provide schooling in Buddhist philosophies as well as a variety of other areas such as English and computer skills.
The schools in Tibetan Children's Village are resource poor, and under staffed. These schools also need teachers who can teach good English to the students. Apart from teaching English, volunteers can also teach extra curricular activities like sports, drawing, music, etc to develop the perceiving power of the children and also help in the administrative works.
Role of Volunteer : Volunteers will primarily work as English instructors either the schools of Tibetan Children's Village. Depending upon the need, volunteers may be asked to assist in other school extra curricular activities like sports. As a unique facet of this placement, the volunteer will have a rare and unique opportunity to witness and participate in traditional Buddhist rituals.
• Teach English (2-3 hours a day) in the school • Organizing games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities • Taking kids on educational tours • Helping kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, • Other helps on administration • Help in other activities or programs designed for school children (If any)
Skills/Qualifications Needed
There is no need of specific qualification for teaching English project in Nepal . However, volunteer interested to teach the children must have good command of English.
Room/Food/Supervision

Volunteer will also have 24/7 access to our office and mobile number of our coordinators. Moreover, head of the school serves as a local contact person for volunteers. Our staffs also visit volunteers in each 1-2 week interval as a part of the program.
Location Descriptions
The Tibetan Children's Village is located at the heart of Pokhara . Pokhara is a vibrant city of Nepal with places of great tourist attractions like Lakeside, Sarangkot, etc. Pokhara has a wide range of restaurants, internet cafés, clubs, shopping centers, and banks. Volunteer work and trekking in Annapurna Region

Join Allinace Nepal on a kaleidoscopic voyage through the legendary Annapurna mountain range. With a history as beautiful and vivid as the mystic landscape, this region of the Himalayas offers a 10-day trek, overpowering ones senses with gigantic and blanched glaciers, ice-flowing rivers as well as surrealistically lush forests and impossibly-existing, yet tempting, hot springs. Remote villages and tea houses filled with warmly-welcoming and smiling faces serve as daytime and overnight rest areas

Proposed Itinerary

Day 1: Leave for Pokhara by bus. Here, participants will receive a final briefing and prepare for the first leg of their trek in the afternoon.

Day 2: Transfer to the starting point of the trek, Naya Pul. Take an easy walk along the sub-tropical Modi Khola River Valley to Birethanti (a large village on the old Nepal-Tibet trading route). Pass through the checkpoint before continuing through the intricately-terraced rice paddies, arriving at Tirkhedhunga for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Tirkhe Dhunga – Ghorepani, From Tirkhe Dhunga, this trail crosses a stream before ascending a steep, stone staircase to the large Magar Village at Ulleri (2070 m). The trail then winds through rhododendron and oak forests; across streams before making a short, final ascent to Nangethanti. From Nangethanti, the journey will trek up to Ghorepani (2850m) for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Poon Hill to Tadapani: Trekkers will rise with the sun, ascending to Poon Hill (3195m) where an awe-inspiring sunrise greets observers from over the mountains. Clear climate permitting, onlookers can experience a magical, panoramic view of the mountains of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna I (8019m), and Manalsu (8156m). Also: views of the 6,000-meter-deep Kali Gandaki Gorge and the trans-Himalayan ranges are viewable – forming the border of Nepal with Tibetan China – making this one of Nepal’s most sought-after vantage points. After this panoramic treat, descend to the lodge for a late breakfast before continuing onto Ghorepani (2780m) – an important stop-over on the old trading route to Tibet. From Ghorepani, the walk is all downhill through beautiful forests before arriving at the village of Banthanti – finally ending the day’s journey at Tadapani for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Tadapani – Chhomrung, From Tadapani, the trail descends through additional rhododendron and oak forests, arriving at Chhomrung for a midday lunch. The day closes with an overnight stay in Chhomrung.

Day 6: Chhomrung - Dovan or Himalaya Hotel. Here, the trail descends via a stone staircase, eventually crossing the Chhomrung Khola. Participants climb high above the Modi Khola, traveling its west bank, and pass through forests of bamboo, rhododendron and oak. This portion of the day’s trek is followed by yet another ascent to Kuldi before finally descending a long, steep, stone staircase to Dovan for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Dovan - (Machhapurchhe Base Camp) or Annapurna Base Camp (Sanctuary). From Dovan, the trail climbs high above the river, on to the lateral moraine, and down the other side to the glacier. This leg of the journey takes trekkers up the bed of the glacier before finally arriving at the Annapurna Base Camp (4237m) for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Annapurna Base Camp – Bamboo. Beginning with an early morning ascent for a stunning sunrise and breakfast, the journey returns to Bamboo for an overnight stay.
